Although expert advice comes with a price tag attached, the probability of you falling victim to a fraudster and the concomitant cost are not to be underestimated. Yet do not charge the caller without evidence of his or her misconduct. Firstly, consult the lawyer in order to clarify your rights as a consumer. Secondly, neatly document your experience with the call, i.e. time, date, names, background noises, etc. Thirdly, find out whether there are other people charging the caller, you may join forces in a class action lawsuit to improve your chances of successfully convict the caller.

Furthermore, official authorities have the power to block telephone numbers if used for illegal actions. Due to the nature of bureaucracy, these institutions may take some time to react. Hence, filing complaints is essential if you want them to be involved. Their tools of prosecuting a fraudster are naturally far superior to your own. As with the lawsuits, evidence is in this context vital as well to accelerate authorities involvement.

If you receive unsolicited calls on a regular basis, try to record them or take notes. The following criteria are essential:

  • Telephone Number of the caller
  • Names
  • Time and Date
  • Content
